Literally "Very pleasant". The standard polite response when someone introduces themselves.
When to use
Use this immediately after someone tells you their name for the first time.
When NOT to use
It is highly versatile and can be used in both formal and informal settings.

— Меня зовут Анна.
— My name is Anna.
— Очень приятно, а я Джон.
— Nice to meet you, and I am John.
Cultural note
You can also say "Очень приятно познакомиться" (Very nice to meet you) to sound slightly more complete, but the short version is standard.
